Home From Emerald City

HomeOnce again the Emerald City Comic Con was a great success! I did a ton of sketches for people– sadly, had to turn down a few requests for fear of running out of time. And I was only able to circulate very briefly among the other artists’ tables, stopping to say hello to Matt Fraction and Mike Choi. Paul and I did make one sweet purchase; a study sketch for a 1985 Savage Sword of Conan cover by the great Ernie Chan in ink and watercolor.

My submission to the Monsters And Dames charity art book.

My submission to the Monsters And Dames charity art book.

The most pleasant surprise (though in retrospect, I should have known,) was the success of the exclusive charity art book, Monsters and Dames. The art contributed was all top-notch, and con organizer Jim Demonakis put together a beautiful hardcover volume. Many who bought it made the rounds to get the book signed by the attending artists, and I think a lot of us had visits from people exposed to our work for the first time because of it.
