Once again the Emerald City Comic Con was a great success! I did a ton of sketches for people– sadly, had to turn down a few requests for fear of running out of time. And I was only able to circulate very briefly among the other artists’ tables, stopping to say hello to Matt Fraction and Mike Choi. Paul and I did make one sweet purchase; a study sketch for a 1985 Savage Sword of Conan cover by the great Ernie Chan in ink and watercolor.
The most pleasant surprise (though in retrospect, I should have known,) was the success of the exclusive charity art book, Monsters and Dames. The art contributed was all top-notch, and con organizer Jim Demonakis put together a beautiful hardcover volume. Many who bought it made the rounds to get the book signed by the attending artists, and I think a lot of us had visits from people exposed to our work for the first time because of it.
